Also, it's cold here

On the one hand, we've been having rolling power outages all day to conserve/spread energy around Houston, and it's been in the 20s all day, and with humidity it's colder, and Ryan's going to have to drive to work tomorrow on frozen roads with broken traffic lights and a couple million people who don't know what to do when ice meets tire.

On the other hand, I'm not in Chicago or Denver like my brothers and their families, where they live with millions of people who DO know how to travel on ice and snow but CAN'T because of the ridiculous amounts of ice/snow and the ridiculous speed at which said ice/snow is falling/torpedoing through the sky. Plus it's at least 20, sometimes 30-40 degrees colder there than it is here.

So... I'm probably not gonna get any sympathy here, am I?

Oh fine. I'll just put on another sweatshirt.

Umm I feel like you should know it's cold here too. I mean compared to the 90 degrees it was a couple of weeks ago, 59 is freezing. So I feel your pain?

Wow, Aly. I mean 59 degrees? You probably had to put on, what? some socks, maybe, to keep warm in that. Just brutal.

I also wanted to add that it is cold here too. We're at like 35 right now.

But we still have power, so that's good.

Tell Ryan to drive safely!!

So I've been thinking. Yes, it's true that we don't have it as bad as other places in the US, but let's not forget that we chose to live in Houston, LA, and Vegas because we don't like the cold. Cos and Ben knew that they were getting into when they moved to Chicago and Denver.

All I'm saying is maybe we deserve at least a little sympathy. We didn't sign up for this.

Living in a city that doesn't know how to handle wintry climate is painful, so I'll give you that!

I've been in the northeast for too long now, and living in a city that knows TOO well how to handle this stuff is just tiring. But as long as we're all working here, at least I'll never be short of a great Indian meal whenever I want!

Stay warm and safe down there :)

mmm... the food--oh the food! Yes. I think great food could make cold winters worth it.

I used to think that when I was in Utah, that people from California were wusses when winter rolled around. Now I totally get it! You get acclimated to an area, and when the temperature significantly drops you do freeze. When I was in Taiwan we froze in 60 degree weather, because we were so used to upper 80s plus humidity. I feel for you! Hopefully you're not driving in the craziness! When is it supposed to let up?

It's true, Shan! I think it's supposed to be back in the 50s by sometime this weekend, but not before the big snowfall tonight (which I actually am pretty excited about :)

I feel sorry for you! I have been in humid cold and it was horrible! My bones felt cold! Also, I lived in Seattle where nobody knows how to drive in ice and snow and found that it really doesn't matter how good you are at driving in it if nobody else in the town knows now! Scary!!
